Go see Eddie Murphy’s latest, ‘A Thousand Words,’ and the joke’s on you. As in, you won’t be laughing. As in, it’s terrible.

Do you remember last fall’s “Tower Heist”? Of course you don’t! But it was one more chance for Eddie Murphy, one of the former titans of rule-breaking comedy, to come back and please us with his humor. “Tower Heist” flopped. And Murphy’s current “one more chance,” the new comedy “A Thousand Words,” probably won’t do any better.
