Family Movie Review: Into the Storm (PG-13)

IntoTheStorm ChesapeakeFamilyMovieReviewKernel Rating (out of 5): half-popcorn-kernal

MPAA Rating: PG-13        Length: 89 minutes

Age Appropriate For: 12+. Some cursing, lots of sexually themed jokes, and a variety of action violence, like people getting pulled into tornados, tornados tearing apart towns, and the threat of people drowning thanks to tornado devastation. Overall, though, it’s the dumbness of the movie that is the most offensive issue.

‘Into the Storm’ is bad enough that it makes other weather-disaster movies like ‘Twister’ and ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ look like masterpieces. The cheesy effects, terrible character development, and unintelligible plot all add up to an utter waste of time.

A movie like “Into the Storm” lives or dies on its effects, because who is going to a movie that advertises itself as having seven tornadoes onscreen at once for anything like character development or well-thought plot machinations? But when those seven tornados don’t look good, and the aforementioned character development and plot are both terrible, what’s the point of “Into the Storm”? No point. No point at all.
