Family Movie Review: Monsters, Inc. 3D (G)

MonstersInc.3D ChesapeakeFamilyMovieReviewKernel Rating (out of 5): whole-popcorn-kernalwhole-popcorn-kernalwhole-popcorn-kernalwhole-popcorn-kernal

MPAA Rating: G          Length: 92 minutes

Age Appropriate for: 5+. There are bad monsters and good monsters, discussion of kidnapping, the concept of employment, and some kissing and name-calling. It’s all pretty tame.

‘Monsters, Inc. 3D’ is as adorable and creative as the original, but that 3D—well, it’s there. The real reason to see this update is because of how wonderful ‘Monsters, Inc.’ is, even 11 years after its original release.

It’s been barely more than a decade since “Monsters, Inc.” came out, and now Disney and Pixar have given it the 3D treatment. It’s a subtle switch and nothing that will blow your mind, but man, is “Monsters, Inc.” still as great as ever. With the most recent Pixar releases—“Brave,”“Cars 2”—being somewhat disappointing, “Monsters, Inc. 3D” is a pleasant blast from the past.
