Family Movie Review: Now You See Me (PG-13)

NowYouSeeMe ChesapeakeFamilyMovieReviewKernel Rating (out of 5): whole-popcorn-kernalhalf-popcorn-kernal

MPAA Rating: PG-13       Length: 116 minutes

Age Appropriate for: 13+. Some kissing that may lead to a one-night stand but is stopped by one of the characters; sexually themed jokes; some cursing; one character who gets drunk; some fighting; one very explosion-filled car crash; and discussion of some traumatic things, like a magician who drowned while locked in a safe.

‘Now You See Me’ is a movie about magic, so it’s all about the razzle and dazzle. It is not so much about logic or good writing, meaning the conclusion is very sloppy—and ultimately unfulfilling.

“Now You See Me” is, in a word, frustrating. It piles on the glitz and the flash and the movie magic (literally, since this is a film about magicians), but it won’t leave you wondering in a good way, trying to figure out all the film’s tricks. Instead, it falls flat, landing with a whimper instead of a final amazing bang.
