Kernel Rating (out of 5):
MPAA Rating: R Length: 88 minutes
Age Appropriate for: 15+. The movie is rated R, but it’s not as scary as the previous films; the rating is mainly based on cursing and a few jump-out-and-shock moments. It’s not gory or grotesque, but it continues the invisible elements, demonic and Satanic imagery, and ghostlike presences of previous movies.
Well, the ‘Paranormal Activity’ series keeps beating a dead horse, doesn’t it? This fourth installment in the franchise is the worst yet, boring, not scary, and utterly nonsensical.

Fans of the “Paranormal Activity” franchise who are looking for answers, you’re not going to find them yet. “Paranormal Activity 4” is a pretty lackluster money-grab, the most uninspired movie of the series and one that adds utterly nothing to the film’s backstory or plot development. Does it move the story forward? No. Does it adequately address its roots? Nope. “Paranormal Activity 4” is a blatant waste of your time.
