Piranha3DD ChesapeakeFamilyMovieReviewKernel Rating (out of 5): half-popcorn-kernal

MPAA Rating: R       Length: 83 minutes

Age Appropriate for: 16+. So much gore, so much female nudity, so much dumbness. Frequent explicit violence, lots of sexual references and female toplessness, an implied sex scene, lots of profanity and cursing, and recreational drug use. The R rating is deserved; older teens could handle it because the film isn’t emotionally damaging, but it is overwhelmingly awful.

‘Piranha 3DD’ is pretty much what you would expect: lots of prehistoric fish hungry for human flesh, and lots of naked human flesh on display. It’s basically a bloodbath, created with the lowest taste level in mind.

B-movies are a very specific genre, meant to fuse together horror or sci-fi with somewhat self-aware comedy into a campy hybrid. But “Piranha 3DD,” for all its over-the-top gore and sex, can’t get the humor right. It’s as dumb as dumb can get.
