Kernel Rating (out of 5):
MPAA Rating: R Length: 88 minutes
Age Appropriate for: 17+… maybe. Parents no doubt have nightmares about what the mostly underage partiers are up to here—an incomplete list includes heavy profanity, casual insensitivity, and misogyny, fighting and weapon brandishing, nudity, and sexual activity, and rampant alcohol and drug use.
Project X’s raunchiness and raucousness are gleefully—and occasionally artfully—ramped up to absurd proportions.
By Jared Peterson
When approached with the right attitude and level of maturity, “Project X” is pretty funny in its extremity. If and only if you trust your teenagers to take a lesson—and not take notes—from its relentless parade of offences, you might consider allowing them (and yourself) to vicariously partake in some of its asocial mischief.
