Age Appropriate for: 13+. A bunch of cursing and rough language; some kissing; and lots of non-graphic and non-gory violence—a lot of gunfire, explosions, and murder, but it’s all to defend America, so it’s portrayed as justified (which might send the wrong messages to younger teens).
The original ‘Red Dawn’ was a super-jingoistic slice of Cold War America that redeemed itself with a strong understanding of teenage camaraderie and the yearning for independence. Plus, Patrick Swayze! But this remake is ridiculously overdone and poorly adapted—no wonder it’s been shelved for three years.

The tagline of the “Red Dawn” remake is “Welcome to the home of the brave.” It should also include, “And the terribly written, poorly acted, and unnecessarily made.” Because man, is this remake awful.
