Family Movie Review: Red Tails (PG-13)

RedTails ChesapeakeFamilyMovieReviewKernel Rating (out of 5): whole-popcorn-kernalwhole-popcorn-kernalhalf-popcorn-kernal

MPAA Rating: PG-13       Length: 125 minutes

Age Appropriate for: 14+. Some cursing and racist slurs; an implied morning-after scene; and the bloody wounds and explosions that come with aerial gunfights. Nothing too gory, however.

Director Anthony Hemingway and producer George Lucas fill ‘Red Tails,’ inspired by World War II’s Tuskegee Airmen, with actors from HBO’s much-acclaimed TV show ‘The Wire.’ Too bad ‘Red Tails’ can’t compare to that small-screen masterpiece.

By Roxana Hadadi

“Red Tails” stars four actors who used to be integral characters on HBO’s legendarily great TV show about Baltimore, “The Wire,” but don’t get too excited—”Red Tails” is not all that.
