MPAA Rating: PG-13 Length: 100 minutes
Age Appropriate for: 13+. Some kissing, an implied sex scene, some tense scenes with humans chasing other humans, and the death of beloved relatives at the hands of an evil government. It’s all really quite tame.
Visually impactful and emotionally affecting, ‘Upside Down’ is a persuasive argument for the legacy of the old-fashioned love story in film. It’s not the most complicated story, but director and writer Juan Solanas adds quite a bit of dazzle.

“Upside Down” isn’t that complicated: boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy has to get girl back. But the idea of upside-down worlds keeping those lovers apart? Yeah, that’s kind of a great idea.
