Time for our monthly round up of some of the new family friendly options arriving in April on the popular streaming services Amazon Prime, HULU, and Netflix. So throw some popcorn in the microwave, grab a blank, pillow and the kids and enjoy!
Netflix still boasts the largest collection of family friendly media, at least until 2019 when Disney rolls out their streaming service. Until then, you can catch ‘Moana’, ‘Dr. Strange’, the live action ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Sing’, ‘Cars’, ‘Finding Dory’ and many other Disney favorites. New this month are ‘Cats and Dogs’, the live action ‘The Flinstones’, ‘Looney Toones Back in Action’, ‘Despicable Me 3’, ‘Speed Racer’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’.
If you are a HULU subscriber and your family couldn’t get enough of the Winter Olympics, be sure to check out ‘Cool Runnings’, the story of the Jamaican bobsled team. Barbie may be getting ready to turn 60 in 2019, but she is still popular with the little ones. ‘Barbie a Fashion Fairytale’ and Barbie and the Diamond Castle’ are available this month. If you have a budding paleontologist, you could have a ‘Land Before Time” marathon as the service is featuring four of the movies along with the sing-a-long.
Amazon Prime is hoping that the popularity of ‘Ready Player One’ in theaters will draw subscribers to revisit ‘The Iron Giant’. The character is featured in the virtual army in ‘Ready Player One’.
This month also features the premier of season one of ‘The Dangerous Book for Boys’ filled with life lessons and lots of feels as a family with three boys copes with the loss of their father, who has left them a sort of how-to guide that ingnites the imagination of the youngest son.
If you are feeling nostalgic for the 80’s pop some Jiffy Pop and share the original ‘Karate Kid’ with the family. Mr. Miyagi’s words of wisdome are just as relevant today as they were then. ‘Ferdinand’, ‘Paddington 2’ and ‘Small Soldiers’ are additional family friendly options.
