Family Movies Coming to Amazon Prime, HULU and Netflix in March

Sometimes you just want to cuddle up on the sofa and watch a movie at home with your kids. Well, if you have one of the popular streaming services such as Amazon Prime, HULU, or Netflix, each month they update their libraries and there are plenty of family options hitting the small screen in March. From family favorites such as ‘Stuart Little’ to more recent releases like ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’, it’s time to start making some popcorn!

Watching a movie with family in the comfort of your own home has many benefits. No sticky popcorn or candy on the floor. No worries about inappropriate trailers if you have little ones. No chatty Cathys behind you incessantly talking through the movie. Snacks at home won’t break the bank. And perhaps best of all, you can pause the movie for bathroom breaks!

Amazon Prime is bringing back several classics this month. For example, you can share the heartwarming story of Mrs. Brisby, a widowed mouse, who lives in a cinder block with her children on the Fitzgibbon farm in ‘The Secret of NIMH’, based on the 1971 Newbury Award winning children’s book. Trivia fact –  The “Mrs. Frisby” name in the novel had to be changed to “Mrs. Brisby” during production of the film due to trademark concerns with Frisbee discs.

‘Zathura’ is the action/adventure story of two young brothers, Danny and Walter, and their older sister Lisa who are drawn into an intergalactic adventure when their house is hurled through space by the magical board game the boys are playing. Just like most families, there is lots of sibling squabling. However, the brothers quickly learn they have to work together and finish the game if they want to get their family and their house back home.

Rounding out the Amazon Prime choices are the ‘Bad News Bears’, ‘Power Rangers’ and ‘Little Ghost’.

If you are a HULU subscriber, be sure not to miss ‘Fantasia 2000’, which offered a mix of Disney’s masterpiece film ‘Fantasia’ with new interpretations of great works of music. For little ones, it is a great way to introduce classical music pieces such as Beethoveen’s Fifth Symphony and “Rhapsody in Blue” accompanied by bright colorful animation and their favorite Disney characters. For those who loved the original Fantasia, the highlight of the original film, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” starring Mickey Mouse is still there for all to enjoy.

Additional HULU family offerings are ‘Stuart Little’, ‘A Stork’s Journey’, ‘Pudsey the Dog – the Movie’, ‘A Mermaid’s Tale’, and ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. Like Amazon Prime, HULU is also showing ‘The Secret of NIMH’, ‘Bad News Bears’ and ‘Power Rangers’.

Martian ChildIf the reboot of ‘Ghostbusters’ was just not your cup of tea, Netflix is offering the original ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Ghostbusters 2’ in March, along with ‘Benji’, ‘Little Women’, ‘Martian Child’, ‘Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild’, season 2 of ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’, and ‘Trolls, the Beat Goes On!: Season 2’.
