You are sexy — One Moore Thing

You are sexyThis one is for the warrior women in my life who have shown up time after endless time. This one is for every amazing woman who has reached out to me to say that they read something I wrote and said, “I know. Me too. Me too.”

This one is for the women who don’t feel like they are enough. The ones who are given mediocre compliments like nice and fine. The ones who need to know that nice doesn’t even scratch the surface of their depth. The ones who aren’t told enough that they are beautiful. The ones who can’t see how sexy they already are.

This one is for the women that we aspire to be, that we hold close, that we are.
This one is for the women.

Dear Beauty,

We need to talk, so please bring it in real close. I know you’ve had some hard minutes and moments and months and then there was that whole 2016 year that we’d rather not talk about, but I need you to know this: you are so beautiful. And all of that dark and hard that you have survived? It has only made you more. More sexy, more stunning, more gloriously human. You’ve shed layers over your lifetime that were no longer needed. The lines you carry now show a life well earned. Let’s let go of our comparisons to an idealized unachievable level of what photoshop believes beauty to be and embrace the brave bodies that we were born into and have sculpted through our days.

We need to redefine what is beautiful, what is sexy and not apologize for being either one.

Smart is sexy.
Strong is sexy.
Brave is sexy.
Curves are sexy.
Shedding your armor is sexy.
Vulnerability is sexy.
Scars and imperfections and hours lived with edges and grit are sexy.

The way you dance.
The way you cry.
The way you stand.
The way you unapologetically laugh at inappropriate moments.
The way your mouth purses when you apply mascara.
The way you whisper and roar.
The way you carry your yes’s and your no’s.
The way you balance and juggle and swarm and keep on treading.
The way you know when to hold on.
The way you let go even when you don’t want to.
The way you know when it’s time.
The way you love.
The way your eyes fold when you say goodbye.
The way you hold your pen, the way you read when no one is watching, the way you pull your hair from your face, the way you make your tea.
The way you spend your Sundays.
The way you show up for battles that no one else can see.
The way you don’t realize how beautiful you are.

You are a rare, irreplaceable art form in a brisk, wild world.
You are stunning.
You are seen.
You are sexy.
Own it sister.
Sending you all the light.
All the gratitude.
And all the love that you already possess,

Katie
