We. Are. Mothers. — One Moore Thing

rsz img 3942

We are mothers.

Beautiful. Imperfect. Mothers.

We are limitless.

We bend. We forget to breathe. We raise voices and babies while our coffee grows colder.

We know what it feels like to carry the weight that we never knew we were capable of carrying.

We know how some days pass in minutes. And other days seem like they will never reach nightfall.

We know what it feels to have grown something from nothing and to be forever changed.

We know how it feels to not have enough. Not enough time or money or arms.

We know how it feels to have everything. Not all at once. But somehow it is everything in different spaces.

We know that these hands we hold will outgow ours when we are not looking.

We know what it feels like to be undone. Unraveled. Tired beyond measure.

We know what it feels like to be the one that they need. Time and time again.

We know what it feels like to be so engulfed and enamored by someone while simultaneously wishing that they would please go to sleep.

We know what it feels like to have small arms wrap around our necks, a seemingly endless accessory.

We know what it feels like to inhale the smells of newborns and bubble baths and grass stains as though the map of childhood can be traced in scent.

We know what it sounds like to hear laughter echo in our backyards.

We know our shortcomings.

We know that we are embracers of chaos.

We know that we are doing the best that we can.

We know one day the kitchen will be clean.

We know one day the house will be still. And quiet.

We know tears.

We know tantrums.

We know loud.

We know loss.

We know luck.

We know healing.

We know our babies.

We know time is fleeting.

We know what it is to feel. We feel everything.

We know hope.

We know pride.

We know the deepest love.

We know that we have been chosen.

We know that we are enough.

We know.

We are mothers.
