Farm Tour on the Eastern Shore – Sept 24

Have you ever truly experienced life on a farm? Do you know how your local food is raised? Did you know that the Eastern Shore has the most contiguous open land on the on the East Coast and that a lot of the food we consume locally is raised there?

Join Annapolis Green for a fun day’s visit to two very different, neighboring farms on Maryland’s Eastern Shore! You’ll have the opportunity to purchase 100% pastured products and a “local” Small Plate & hard cider. It’s a great family friendly event!

11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Annapolis Green would like to thank chef and author Rita Calvert for arranging this wonderful tour! The adult ticket price includes a copy of her cookbook, the Grassfed Gourmet Fires It Up! Written by Rita Calvert and Michael Heller (with a foreword by Aliza Green), The Grassfed Gourmet Fires it Up! puts a savory spin on pasture-raised meats from farm to table.

The Farms We’ll Visit Include:
Pop’s Old Place has been a small family farm for over 100 years. As a Century Family Farm, owners Darlene & Al raise their food in a humane and healthy way for superior flavor. The farm is truly sustainable with a special tribute to the heritage breeds of 100% grassfed Randall cattle and Katahdan sheep. Woodland Mulefoot hogs and heritage hens are fed NON-GMO diets. Darlene will give us a 90-minute tour to meet all of her gentle animals. Her charming retail store will be open too.

Just around the bend is Blades Orchard and its Faulkner Branch Cidery. The operation will be in full swing of the apple harvest when we visit. Their Speakeasy (Tasting Room) will host us as we sample their incredibly delicious products and munch a local snack of award-winning cheese.
