Fell’s Point Privateer Festival offers fun and education for the family


Festival includes a Battle at Sea

The Children’s Entertainment and Activities Pier will be on Anne Street Saturday and Sunday and will feature free pirate crafts, Urban Pirates treasure hunt, a “Pirate Island” bounce house, magic shows and pirate story times by Urban Pirates. There will also be Urban Pirates Family Adventure Cruises and airbrush tattoo and gem mining vendors.

The War of 1812 Education Pier will be on the Broadway Pier and will have organizations from across Maryland that will offer a glimpse into the history of the War of 1812. There will be cannon and flag demonstrations and historical puppet shows. Tall ships, including the Pride of Baltimore II, will also be on display and available for tours. A Battle At Sea from the water’s edge will take place from 5-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Cannons will blast between schooners on the water and land privateers.

For the older pirates there will be a Grog Garden during the festival and a Pyrate Invasion Pub Crawl Saturday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
