Thanksgiving weekend was our first sports-free weekend since August so we packed in several months worth of family activities. Read on for a little snapshott glance at our “weekend off.”
We spent Thanksgiving morning at the Turkey Trot at our local high school. Adam came in first among the Steins. Jonah finished just ahead of me. He’s a a fast little bugger.
Friday morning we went on our annual Black Friday Hike. This year we went to Harper’s Ferry. We did this hike three years ago and the kids wanted to go back — all but Jonah. He was not infavor of it at all. Last he hiked the steep climb up to Maryland Heights overlooking Harper’s Ferry, he was 6 years old. Given the fact that his legs may have doubled in size since then, he liked it much better this time around.
Sunday we chopped down our Christmas tree. We don’t usually go this early in the season, but I glanced at our shcedule for the next few weekends and this was the only opportunity. We were on a tight scheudle, though, so we aimed to find a tree in record time — and we did. It took less than 15 minutes.
Not all agreed it was the perfect tree. It’s impossible to get everyone to agree in 15 minutes.
Maggie chopped it down.
Wait a minute! Those are my boots Adam is wearing. Guess I need new snowboots this year. Hope there will be the chance to use them.
There were a few other things accomplshed this weekend. The boys played plenty of football at the neighbors. We saw Santa arrive in town on a fire truck. Chris worked on the house. I went shopping. There was cleaning and decorating and late nights watching movies infront of the fire. It was just enough to make one little guy fall asleep with the lights on. And a mom wanting another long weekend to recover from the long weekend with no scheduled activities. |
