5 Saturday

May Day
Celebrate the arrival of spring colonial-style. Rally ’round the Maypole with the colonists, entertainment, art, garden crafts, and games with a 17th-century flair. Free. 10am-4pm. Visitor Center, St. Mary’s City. 240-895-4990,

Solomons Maritime Festival
Exhibit of antique and classic boats, toy boat building, Chesapeake Bay retriever demonstrations, live music, food and more. Free. 10am-5pm. Calvert Marine Museum, Solomons.

Planet Walk
Walk along a 4.7 mile segment of the B&A Trail between Glen Burnie and Severna Park. Scientists and astronomers from NASA/Goddard, area colleges and universities and local astronomy clubs will be at planet stations along the trail to provide additional information about that planet. Free. 10am-2:30pm. Baltimore and Annapolis Trail, Glen Burnie.

Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival
May 5–6. Live animals, crafts and supplies, demonstrations, and plenty of entertainment. Free. Sat. 8:30am-6pm; Sun. 8:30am-5pm. Howard County Fairgrounds, West Friendship.

Towsontown Spring Festival

Walk For The Animals
Enjoy a fun run/walk with pets, plus a vendor village, car show, K9 demos, agility yard and more. Fundraising opportunities available. 7:30am. Quiet Waters Park, Annapolis.

International Family Equality Day at the Zoo
Celebrate the beauty and importance of family diversity with family-focused activities including field games with prizes, special animal enrichment demonstrations and live entertainment. Free. 10am-2pm. The Maryland Zoo, Baltimore.

First Sunday Arts Festival
