Maryland girls and young women in high school or college can sign up to explore careers in emergency management and public safety this summer.

The free summer camp program, HERoes on the HERizon, takes place from July 14 to 18 at the Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management in Glen Burnie. The program offers campers the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities, interactive workshops and field trips led by professionals in the industry.

Campers will learn about emergency preparedness, leadership skills, crisis communication, life-saving skills including CPR and more. They will discuss career opportunities with public safety partners from across Maryland, who will bring live demonstrations and activities.

Campers also have the opportunity to network with professionals in emergency management.

“We are thrilled to host a unique version of our summer camp this year to provide even more young women the chance to discover the diverse career opportunities in emergency management,” says Preeti Emrick, the director of Anne Arundel County OEM. “By fostering an interest in this field at a young age, we hope to inspire the next generation of public safety leaders.”

HERoes on the HERizon is open to young women in high school or college in Maryland. The camp program provides breakfast, lunch and snacks and transportation for field trips.
