Plan to visit a local museum for free on Sept. 27 thanks to Museum Day Live!
On that date, participating museums across the country emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s facilities in Washington, D.C, which offer free admission every day.
Local museums taking part in Museum Day Live! include the Newseum in Washington D.C., College Park Aviation Museum, Historic London Town and Gardens, Chesapeake Children’s Museum, Annapolis Maritime Museum, Calvert Marine Museum, Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, the National Building Museum and many more.
“Museum Day Live! embodies Smithsonian’s commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone,” says Stephen Giannetti, vice president of advertising, sales and marketing at Smithsonian Media. “For a decade, we’ve partnered with a wonderful array of museums — from the small and niche to world-renowned institutions — and are looking forward to welcoming more guests this year than ever before.”
Museums in all 50 states have signed up to participate in Smithsonian magazine’s 2014 Museum Day Live!, the largest event of its kind. Over 1,500 museums are expected to participate this year.
Visit the Museum Day Live website to download a Museum Day Live! ticket. Each ticket grants the ticketholder and one guest free access to any participating museum on Sept. 27. A list of participating museums is on the website.
