Summer Fun—Day 77: Visit the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

Learn about the history and future of the Chesapeake Bay at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels.

Families can explore exhibits with activities, visual arts, original artifacts and indigenous watercraft in 10 different buildings situated on the waterfront overlooking the Miles River.

Talk with shipwrights and visiting captains about their vessels, or climb to the top of 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse for a view of the harbor.

Today is also the museum's annual Watermen's Appreciation Day festival, which features boat rides, a boat docking contest, crab feast and fun for the whole family.

Admission costs $15 for adults and $6 for children ages 6-17; children under 5 are free. The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
