Summer Fun Day #91: Tour the Naval Academy

There is so much to see just in Maryland’s capital, so visit the Naval Academy for a fun learning experience.

NavalAcademy2A new exhibit in Halsey Field House features interactive screens, including a huge wall map to explore different sites around the naval yard. Families can also learn about life as a midshipman and Naval Academy admissions and academics.

When you finish exploring the Naval Academy virtually, stop by the visitor center and step onto the grounds, which you can walk through on your own or as part of a guided tour. For the month of August, tours run Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Sundays from 12 to 3 p.m.

The visitor center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Public tours start at the visitor center and cost $11 for adults and $9 for kids in first through 12th grade. Kids under first grade are free.

Entering the grounds is free, but anyone 18 or older must show a valid original U.S. government-issued photo ID or original passport (no photocopies).
