Summer Fun—Day 3: Watch airplanes from the BWI Trail playground

The playground at the Thomas A. Dixon Observation Area near the airport in Glen Burnie is great fun—especially since planes are always taking off and landing just overhead.

AirportPlaygroundThe kids will love seeing and hearing the airplanes fly by as they play, though when the planes take off they can be quite loud. There are multiple slides, plenty of areas for climbing and tree stumps for hopping from one to the other.

The squishy surface of the play area made of recycled tires gives kids some bounce as they run around.

The BWI Trail passes right next to the playground and is a great spot for a walk or bike ride. Older kids might want to ride the 12.5-mile trail that circles the airport. It's a great after-school activity to get a bit of exercise.

Parking is available next to the playground at the observation area parking lot.
