Summer Fun—Day 19: Visit the Maryland Zoo

Today is the perfect day to visit the new animals at the Maryland Zoo.

Some new arrivals to the ZooDSC 4599 1024x684 include two trumpeter swan hatchlings, or cyngents, the Zoo's third batch of young swans. The family of trumpeter swans can be viewed at the pond in the Maryland Wilderness Farmyard. Another new member of the Zoo family is Jess, a Sitatunga calf born earlier this month.

Over the summer, the zoo opens a half-hour early Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The closing time will remain at 4 p.m., except for the second Saturday of each month when the zoo will host “After Hours with the Animals.” On those days, the zoo will stay open until 7 p.m. and admission will be reduced to $10 per person after 4 p.m. The Zoo also offers a free shuttle service from the Baltimore Visitor Center downtown to the entrance of the Zoo.
