Summer Fun—Day 26: Take the kids to a petting farm

Let your little animal lovers learn more about some of their favorite animals at one of several petting farms in the area.

Petting farmMany petting farms offer opportunities to touch and even feed the animals, as well as picnic spots, wagon rides, animal rides and playgrounds.

Clark’s Elioak Farm, Ellicott City

This petting farm has hay wagon rides, a cow train, pony rides and attractions from the old Enchanted Forest. You can also buy fresh produce and meat while you are there.

Baugher’s, Westminster

Visit the barnyard animals including lambs, goats, chickens, pigs, llamas and even peacocks. Families can buy food at the petting zoo to feed the animals. The farm also has playgrounds to make the visit even more fun for the kids.

Dominic’s Farm, Queenstown 

Check out the miniature horses, pigs, cows, and bunnies. Just make sure to call ahead to see if the farm is open for visits that day. Dominic's also hosts story times, parents' night out events, an Itty Bitty Riders club and family movie nights.
