Summer Fun—Day 60: Free Indoor play areas

Let the kids get some engery out on this rainy day at an indoor play area near you.

There are many free, indoor play areas throughout Maryland, so everyone can find something close to home.

Show your state pride at a Maryland-themed play area in Arundel Mills in Hanover. The play area includes a replica of the Thomas Point Lighthouse, a Maryland blue crab and an oriole singing in a bird bath. This play area is located between Best Buy and Medieval Times.

The Mall in Columbia has a health and wellness themed play area where kids can play in an interactive ambulance, cross a bookworm bridge or slide down a healthy pile of veggies. This play area is in front of JC Penney.

The Småland Play Area at Ikea in College Park has a climbing structure, a ball pit, art stations and tons of toys. After letting the kids play, stop in the restaurant where kids’ meals are only 99 cents.

The Westfield Annapolis has a 1,200-square-foot aquatic-themed play area with a mini lighthouse slide, a submarine to crawl through and walls of interactive bubbles. This play area is located in front of Pottery Barn.
