Summer Fun—Day 98: Explore Lake Elkhorn

Lake Elkhorn in Columbia is a great spot to take the kids for a stroll, bike ride and to play on the playground.

A 2-mile path circles the lake which is located in the Owen Brown neighborhood. The trail is mostly flat, with a few inclines, and has both shaded and open sections. It's a great place to take babies and tots for a stroll, and the path is great for tots with training wheels.

Ducks congregate at a dock along the path and the playground is close to the dock. There is a parking lot off Broken Land Parkway, and the lake and playground can also be accessed from Cradlerock Way. Picnic pavilions are located near Broken Land Parkway if you want to bring lunch.

Other, longer trails are near by that are great for biking if older kids wish for more of a challenge. Bridges and great views await any rider.
