Celebrate Elmo's Birthday at the National Children’s Museum

ElmoBdayBashWish one of Sesame Street's most beloved residents a happy 3rd birthday on Aug. 2 at the National Children's Museum in National Harbor. In addition to the all-day party for Elmo, the museum will pay tribute to the number 3 with programs and hands-on activities.

Special birthday activities include:

  • Story time and a "Happy Birthday" sing-a-long with Elmo at 10:30 a.m.
  • Birthday cake while supplies last at noon.
  • "The Adventure to the Imagi Nationa" by magician and storyteller David London at 1 and 2:30 p.m.
  • Parades, dance parties and raffles throughout the day.
  • Making Elmo-themed shrinky dinks – and experiment with plastic that changes size when exposed to different temperatures.
  • Crating Elmo birthday cards (for ages 3 and under).
  • Other crafts and programming for children of all ages.

Don't miss the dance party on the world map at 11 a.m., 1, 3 and 3:45 p.m. with Elmo and friends.

Festivities run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free with $10 museum admission. The museum is located in Fort Washington. For details visit the National Children's Museum website.
