Science & Main exhibit opens at the Maryland Science Center

Take a stroll through a Baltimore neighborhood that's all about science in a new exhibit at the Maryland Science Center opening today, Dec. 18, 2015.

Science Center ScienceMain WScience & Main is a Baltimore-inspired exhibit of brick row-home storefronts, each with its own related problems to solve and activities to complete.

Visitors walk down Main Street and discover how science interacts with daily life. Kids can explore how gears work in the Bike Shop, understand leverage and pulleys in the construction zone, use catapults to have a “food fight” at the Chaos Cafe and much more.

“Science & Main is an intergenerational experience that emphasizes working and playing together at multiple interactive exhibits,” says Chris Cropper, senior director of marketing at the Science Center. “Everyone can design and then fly their own paper airplane from a mechanical launcher at the airport. Families can work together to build engineering marvels in the construction zone using foam bricks of different shapes and sizes, and visitors can team up to explore sound waves. These, along with other basic science principals, are the core learning features of this new exhibit.”

The exhibit will be a permanent fixture at Maryland Science Center. Admission is $20.95 for adults and $16.95 for ages 3-12. For details call 410-685-2370 or visit the Maryland Science Center website.
