Just walking among the beautiful blooms is a great activity with the kids. The cherry blossom trees grow in three National Park Service locations — around the Tidal Basin in West Potomac Park, in East Potomac Park (Hains Point) and on the Washington Monument grounds.

There are daily events in the Tidal Basin Parking Lot from March 20-April 14, 2019. This area is the heart of the cherry trees. There are information tents, souvenir/bookstore tents, food tents and stage performances.

Kids can become a Junior Bloomin' Ranger by completing an activity booklet and earn a junior ranger badge. The booklets are available at the National Park Service Tent at the Tidal Basin Welcome Area and the NPS information kiosks throughout the park. Also check out the ranger-led walks and talks given daily including running and bike tours, pups n' petals dog walks and daily cherry chats.
