Holiday Fun Day 11—Make Peppermint Sugar Body Scrub

Looking for a great holiday gift for neighbors, friends and the kids' teachers? Make your own Peppermint Sugar Body Scrub! It's easy, looks nice and will be a treat for weeks to come.

  • Mason jar (any size - just remember you have to fill it up to the top)
  • Granulated White Sugar
  • Essential oil (any scent)
  • Coconut or Almond Oil
  • Red food coloring or cranberry juice

Start with 1 cup of sugar (you can always add more if needed). Mix sugar in a bowl with coconut or almond oil (add slowly and stir). Create a texture that is damp but not runny. Add 10-20 drops of your favorite essential oil (give a sniff about halfway through to get an idea of how strong the scent is). Add more sugar/oil/scent as necessary. You might want to make extra to have some for yourself!

Separate the mixture into two bowls with equal parts in each. Add a few drops (1-3) of red food coloring to one of the bowls. Cranberry juice also works to add a pink color to the sugar. Stir in the coloring to create a pink or red hue.

Alternate adding a layer of the white mixture with the pink layer. Using a spoon you can scoop the mixture into the jar and press down to create even lines. Continue until the jar is all full!

Add some ribbon and a tag to the top of the jar and you are all set! You might want to list the ingredients on the back of the tag just in case of allergies.

Happy Holidays—enjoy!
