Holiday Fun Day 4—Cut down your own Christmas tree

Find the perfect Christmas tree and make holiday memories to treasure by visiting a choose-and-cut Christmas tree farm in Maryland where you can select and cut your own tree plus enjoy other activities. Some farms even have Santa stop by to visit on weekends!

Kids at a Christmas tree farmAt the farms, kids will love running up and down the rows of pines. Most farms have saws you can borrow and often will help you cut the tree once selected. Some farms even have tractors that will take you back to the barn once you cut your tree.

Warm up with a hot drink or snack after your trek. Many farms have stands or sell refreshments in a barn or building.

If you don't find the perfect Christmas tree, check out the fresh pre-cut firs available at several locations. Holiday shops often stock other decorations such as wreaths and ropings as well as poinsettias.

Trees bought directly from the farm are fresher and are often less expensive than precut trees sold on a lot. By buying from a local farm, you are also helping to support Maryland farmers.

Several Christmas tree farms across Maryland offer cut-your-own trees, and some also have pre-cut trees onsite or even offer to have you pick and they will cut it. Most have saws on hand for customers and stay open through Christmas Eve, although some close early if supplies are low.
