A Holiday Village featuring food vendors, a beer garden and a special Kids Corner will take place in the parks surrounding the Washington Monument, the nation's first honoring George Washington. Over 30 vendors with delicious treats will be on hand.

The Kid's Corner, located in the West Park, will have free face painting, free photos with santa and crafts by Art With A Heart and The Hippodrome Theatre. Mascots will also be hanging around this area including Poe, the Oriole Bird and the Christmas Village Gingerbread Man.

Live performances will take the stage including City College, Peabody Community Chorus, Harbor City Music Company, Orch Kids, Baltimore Rock Opera Society, Morgan State University Choir, and a very special surprise grand finale performance.

The Holiday Village will open at 5 p.m. and stage entertainment will start at 6 p.m. The lighting will occur at approximately 7:45 p.m. and the event ends at 8 p.m. The Monument is located in Mount Vernon Place in the 600 block of Cathedral St.

Because of road closures and the fireworks safety zone, the public is encouraged to enter Mt. Vernon’s West Park from Cathedral Street, not from the Charles Street area closest to the Monument itself. After 7pm, the only way to enter the event is on Cathedral Street. Be sure to check out the event map before heading out. For more details visit the Monument Lighting website.
