brotherKernel Rating (out of 5): whole-popcorn-kernalwhole-popcorn-kernal

Length: 96 minutes

MPAA Rating: R

Age Appropriate for: 15+. The film has a fair amount of cursing and suggested drug use, but overall it’s the dirty language and nudity that really boosted the rating to R. You see a woman’s breasts, brief full frontal of a nude male and another man’s butt, and there a few sex scenes.

Despite a well-rounded cast and the joy that is Paul Rudd, ‘Our Idiot Brother’ leaves too many plot threads unraveled in its quest for an unnecessarily happy ending.

Even with his charming goofiness, “Our Idiot Brother” is never more than a poorly imagined drama about the importance of family, even when those family members don’t really like each other. Not even Rudd’s smile can redeem such shoddy plot and character development.
