Top Maryland Labor Day Weekend Events

While Labor Day initially began as a recognition of the social and economic contributions made by American workers, the holiday has become a celebration of the end of summer marked by parades, barbecues and fireworks.

Maryland State Fair - 2018

Aug 23-Sept 3. Food, fun, entertainment, rides, livestock, concerts and more. $3-8. Children 5 and under free. Rides and concerts require fee. Check website for schedule. 10am-10pm. Maryland State Fairgrounds, Timonium.

National Hard Crab Derby - 2018
Aug. 27-Sept. 2. Crab themed festival featuring crab races, crab cooking and picking contests, carnival rides, crafts, live entertainment, beauty pageants, parade, fireworks and more. Prices vary by event. Schedule TBA. Somers Cover Marina, Crisfield.

Greenbelt Labor Day Festival - 2018
Aug. 31-Sept. 3. Amusement rides, carnival games, live bands, entertainment, food, sports, art and photo contests, used book sale, Labor Day parade and more. Free. Hours vary daily. Roosevelt Center, Greenbelt.

Sept. 1 – Oct. 21, Saturdays and Sundays. 25-acre English village with craft and specialty shops, food and beverage emporiums, games, attractions, jousting and more. $7-130. 10am-7pm. Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds, Crownsville.

Pops in the Park - 2018
Sept 2. The Symphony will perform an exciting program of well-known film scores in support of the Music from Film theme. Including well-loved pieces from films like The Titanic, Chicago, and Superman and features composers such as Copland, Rossini, and Handel. Free. 5:30pm. Quiet Waters Park, Annapolis.

Virginia Scottish Games - 2018
Sept. 1-2. Children's games, bagpipes, British car show, fiddling, Highland Dancing and Scottish Dog Events. $5-$30. Children under 5 free. Great Meadow, The Plains, Va.

Annapolis First Sunday Arts Festival and Parade - 2018Annapolis labor day parade
Sept. 2. Arts and craft show featuring 100 local and regional artists, live music, dance, street performers, food and more. The parade will start on West Street and continue to Calvert Street. Free. Festival, 11am-5pm. Parade, 3pm Calvert and West Streets, Annapolis.

Kensington Labor Day Parade and Festival - 2018
Sept. 3. Parade, food, games, children's activities and more. Parade begins at St. Paul Street and Plyers Mill Road. Free. 10am.
