Friday, June 7 is National Donut Day, which was started in 1938 by The Salvation Army to honor the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.
Several local donut establishments are celebrating the day with freebies. At Dunkin’ Donuts, get a free donut with any beverage purchase and at Krispy Kreme, get a free donut, no strings attached.
