Be sure to hit an IHOP today, March 4, for a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in celebration of IHOP’s National Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The day is also a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and IHOP asks visitors to consider making a donation. The hope is to raise $3 million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and other local charities.
Pancake Day is a tradition that dates back several centuries to when the English prepared for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products…hence the name Pancake Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday.
