Sign the kids up by July 19 to participate in a Youth Fishing Derby on July 23 at Downs Park in Pasadena.
The event is designed to introduce children ages 4-13 to the rules and regulations of a fishing derby. Prizes are awarded for the largest fish in each age group — ages 4 to 8 and 9 to 13. All kids will win a prize in the Casting Range and Hit the Fish Eye. There will also be door prizes.
Registration is required by July 19, and the $5 registration fee is returned the day of the event. No walk-ins will be allowed to participate. Participants must supply their own rod, reel and tackle. Kids do not need a fishing license. Parents and other adults can help but will not be permitted to fish. Worms will be supplied by Fishbones Bait & Tackle or participants can bring their own bait.
The derby runs 7:30-11:30 a.m. at Downs Park in Pasadena. Visit the Pasadena Sportfishing Group’s website for details or to register or call 410-HEY-FISH.
