Imagine your child buried in a book about the War of 1812. Seem impossible? Maybe not, thanks to Baltimore author Jonathon Scott Fuqua who recently released “Calvert the Raven in the Battle of Baltimore” — the first in his “Flying Through History” series.
Fuqua, a Baltimore resident who struggled with dyslexia as a kid, wrote and illustrated the book for his 9-year-old son.
“This little book is dynamic and colorful and draws kids in,” Fuqua said. “It’s like the ‘Magic Tree House’ series but it’s more engaging and not so filled with fluff.”
