What better way to ease your load as a parent than to get the kids cooking?
Bess Riddle loves to cook and she wants her kids to learn to cook. But, she hates the mess the kids make in the kitchen. There’s spilled flour, wrong measurements and recipes gone haywire.
“I’m too picky when I cook. I’m always in a hurry and I don’t have time for their messes,” says Riddle who lives in Sherwood Forest.
When Riddle discovered the kids’s cooking classes taught by Chef Frances Vavloukis at the Culinary Center at Whole Foods Market in Annapolis, it was the perfect solution. Riddle’s daughters Marion, 10 and Ella, 8, frequent the culinary classes, and have hosted a couple cooking birthday parties at the center.
“I think it’s a great experience for the kids. I think it teaches independence. They’re learning math while they’re doing it,” Riddle says. “I hope it fosters a love of cooking and baking.”
