The celebration of all things green in March now includes “green” restaurants. March 16-20, 2015, has been designated Green Restaurant Week by Anne Arundel County and the city of Annapolis to draw attention to restaurants that use eco-friendly, sustainable practices and locally grown food.
By eating at restaurants certified under the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Environmental Stewardship Program, diners help support restaurants that use locally grown products, make energy efficient improvements, conserve water and offer instruction in sustainable practices.
These restaurants “are providing some of the best dining options in the area, while going the extra mile to enhance and protect our environment,” said Annapolis Mayor Mike Pantelides in a statement.
Special events during Green Restaurant Week include:
March 17, 5 p.m. – Baroak Cookhouse and Taproom
Welcome the staff at newly opened restaurant. Registration is necessary.

March 19, 5-7 p.m. – Killarney House
Anthony Clarke, co-owner of the Irish Restaurant Company, discusses his solar project and other environmental policies. Tour of Killarney House follows. Registration needed. 584 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville.
