Concussion discussion to help keep kids safe

Soccer ConcussionIf your kids play sports, you coach or if your kids just play rough in the backyard, you will want to attend a program on concussions at Calvert Library Prince Frederick Tuesday, July 14.

The library along with Calvert Soccer Association is hosting Children's National Medical Center Safe Concussion Outcome Recovery and Education Program. The purpose is to improve the general knowledge and skill of the community regarding baseline testing and treatment for people with concussions.

Even mild concussions should never be downplayed. Someone who returns to the game or practice before their brain function is back to pre-injury baseline levels is at significant risk for a more severe or potentially catastrophic injury.

The event will provide an opportunity for questions and answers. The event will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. For details call 410-535-0291 or 301-855-1863.
