Celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday April 23 with plenty of activities to suit the Bard at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C.
From Shakespearean performances to stage combat demonstrations to Elizabethan crafts, there’s something for everyone — including birthday cake.
Activities will include:
- Sword fighting demonstrations
- Musical and theatrical performances
- Tours of the Folger reading rooms to see the paintings and stained glass windows
- A special appearance by “Queen Elizabeth”
- Discussions from Folger curators and scholars
- Readings from the winners of the 2017 Sonnet Contest
Food trucks will be stationed in Puck’s Circle. The event is free.
