Trust in Your Photographer
Try to resist the urge to give direction and “help” the photographer by telling your children, “Listen to Miss So-and-So!” It’s a photo session, not a performance. Know that if they get a little excited, your children are NOT the first ones to do so. Give yourself over to your photographer and let them do what they do best: document all the wonderful things about your unique family.
Take a step back and let your photographer interact directly with your children. They’ll be less distracted if you aren’t paying attention or are far enough away that you aren’t making eye contact. If you give your kids some space, it will help their natural selves come out. Whether they’re silly or serious, all moods can make for great portraits.
