Change Your Perspective
There’s no better way to add variety to your photos then to shoot them at different angles. Try lying down on the floor in front of your kids or standing on a chair above them. Tilt your camera or crouch down to see things from their perspective. Sit your kids on a step or a bench and shoot them from the knees down. Nothing says “childhood” like scraped knees and dirty socks!
Have your child play peek-a-boo around a tree or push them high in a swing and shoot them as they go back and forth. You’ll find that your kids are having fun and you’re taking great pictures.
Pictures, especially of our growing children, are more than just images. Whether you trust them to a professional or your own skilled eye, if you follow these basic steps, it will help ensure a smooth photo session and a collection of priceless, timeless memories to treasure for years to come.
Hooray, your pictures are gorgeous and amazing! Now what do you do with them? Don’t hide them in a drawer to think about later – display them!
- Foyers, the guest bathroom –even the kitchen – all present great opportunities for showing the world your beautiful family. Come up with a display plan BEFORE a photo shoot so that you don’t feel overwhelmed when your pictures arrive. Having a plan will keep you on task so you don’t put off hanging them.
- Once you decide where to display them, find one element that ties your photos together, especially if you have new pictures next to older ones. It could be as simple as grouping together all color photos, or all black and white photos. You can also group them by using the same type of frame – wood, silver, gold, black, etc.
- Think outside the frame. Photos don’t just hang on walls anymore. They can be put on just about anything – iPhone cases, tote bags, golf towels, you name it! These make great gifts, too
