If you are ready for Spring and ready to put your green thumb to work, check out the Howard County GreenFest and Native Plant and Herb Sale!

Howard County GreenFest 2018 Native Plant and Herb Sale takes place April 21st from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Howard County Community College Quad. The event focuses on environmental awareness, education and resources. The is the eleventh year for the GreenFest, and over 75 local green businesses and environmental non-profits are expected to participate.

One of the highlights is the native plant sale, featuring locally grown Maryland plants. Using native plants for landscaping and gardening often means less work for gardeners, allowing more time to expand your landscaping or relax and enjoy your garden and view. Native plants are often hardier as they have evolved and adapted for the climate and soil in this part of Maryland. Along with being ornamental, the plants are also excellent food and shelter for animals and support pollinators.

In addition to the plant sale, there will be a free compost bin give-away, free raffles, workshops and speakers, and a shredding event. The kids will also find plenty to do with activities provided by Robinson Nature Center, a kids’ craft table, and live birds and reptiles on display with local experts.
