3 Stages of Entertainment, All Day
Mark your calendars now for the 2011 Annapolis Irish Festival, Saturday, July 9th, 2011, from 11am-9:30pm, at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds, just outside of Annapolis, in Crownsville, rain or shine. Proceeds from the Festival will be donated to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
The Annapolis Irish Festival, the first ever in the Annapolis area, will be filled with Traditional Celtic Music, Celtic Rock Bands, three stages of continuous entertainment, workshops, exhibits and a large Children’s/Family Area called the “Little Leprechaun Land”.
The newly renovated stages at the Fairgrounds will host Irish Dancers, performers and several popular traditional and Celtic Irish bands including the Rovers, The Screaming Orphans, Seamus Kennedy, James Gallagher & Off The Boat, Shamrogues, Icewagon Flu, Burning Bridget Cleary and the Chesapeake Caledonian’s Pipe and Drums and many more. The flavor of the Emerald Isle will fill the fairgrounds with scores of vendors offering authentic Irish crafts, food, clothing, jewelry and much more.
“The Little Leprechaun Land” Kids/Family Area will host a huge family-friendly area with many activities including pony rides, moon bounces, games, crafts, face painting, The Balloon Guy and live stage entertainment. The Legacy Center will also be located within this area where kids will have the opportunity to explore the history of Ireland, learn about and play traditional Irish instruments including the fiddle, bagpipes and the bohran. Irish dancers from the Culkin School of Irish Dance will be on hand to teach the jig.
Festival goers are encouraged to enter the Festival Contests – Best Freckles, Best Cheers and Celtic Pride where contestants should come dressed to impress. Anyone interested in entering the contests should send an email to [email protected].
