Know an Anne Arundel County high school junior who might make a good member of the Board of Education?
High school juniors in good academic standing can get more information on becoming the 2014-2015 student member on the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County during an information night tonight, Feb. 5.
Anne Arundel County’s student Board of Education member is the only student in the nation to have full voting rights on a local board.
The nomination process for the 2014-2015 seat opens on Feb. 6, and ends at 5 p.m. on Feb. 18. A candidate will be elected by the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils on April 1. That candidate’s name will be forwarded to Governor Martin O’Malley, who makes the appointment.
The Feb. 5 meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis.
