
The Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) system offers several language-learning resources to cardholders, as well as books and films meant to develop language skills.
Brainfuse is only available through the library and includes tutoring, writing and standardized test preparation modules. Mango Languages focuses on conversational skills in more than 70 languages. AACPL librarians also recommend HandSpeak, an American Sign Language -learning website.
The Marshall Learning Center in Annapolis was launched by the Marshall Hope Corporation to educate children of immigrants in the area, particularly those who speak a language other than English at home. This immersive language program develops English skills through education in the arts; science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and other fields and currently serves approximately 50 students through its after-school and weekend classes.
Among its many after-school programs and summer camps, SmartFit Kids in Severna Park offers Spanish and Chinese language clubs. Students develop language skills through games and activities focusing on vocabulary, pronunciation and conversation.
