Watching a child sing can be a delight to parents, but in this afternoon class, parents can join in on the fun and learn from an expert. Anne Arundel County Public Library’s Severn branch is hosting a free public music class for parents and children from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24.
Nicole Addison, “Ms. Nikki,” a classically trained singer and songwriter from Washington D.C., will be teaching the class. Addison holds a B.F.A. in Music Education from Howard University and an M.Sc in Nonprofit Management from Trinity University. She has been teaching music to young people for over 15 years.
In 2018, she released her first children’s single, “Music in the Air,” as well as an EP. She is a member of the GRAMMY-nominated 1 Tribe Collective’s All One Tribe album featuring “Rainbow” along with 24 other artists and has an engaging presence on YouTube, with 800 monthly subscribers and videos that have 75,000 views.
A diverse artist who dabbles in hip hop, gospel, and R&B, as well as other musical genres, Addison calls on not just children, but also their caregivers to engage with her teachings.
